SARGENT PROMOTED TO CHIEF APPEARS IN GUIDI FLYER WHILE STREET COPS SUPPORT JUAREZ FOR MAYOR

Larry Guidi wants you to think your local police officers upport his relection.  He's sent out flyers picturing himself with all kinds of guys in uniform.

But wait.  The HAWTHORNE POLICE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION has formally endorsed his opponent, Danny Juarez, in the 2009 election.  What's going on?

The HPOA is comprised of the officers who patrol Hawthorne 24 hours each day.  These are the guys who chase down and arrest the bad guys.  They support Danny Juarez for Mayor.  Police management are not members of the HPOA. 

Take a look at the flyer with Guidi and "Chief" Heffner.  If the street cops support Juarez, what's Heffner doing on a Guidi flyer?  The Chief of Police works at the pleasure of the City Council.  The council votes on his contract.  Guidi has controlled the majority on the Council for a long time.  Simply put, Heffner's Chief only as long as "Don" Guidi says so.  No wonder he's in the photo!
